Mr. Bean and Second language teaching
You might find few people to claim Mr. Bean hasn’t amused them, but you definitely cannot find any English teacher to make such a claim. He has made us laugh harder. And there is more to Mr. Bean to us than it appears.
As simple as Mr. Bean
Mr. Bean is such a simple character. He neither displays a lot of tricks nor bends backwards to get his viewers’ attention. He knows the basics of human interaction and communication. Life is simply interesting enough. You do not have to look for clever ideas to get your students’ heed. You do not need to be interesting at all. You just need to bring up interesting subjects to class. And as far as Mr. Bean is concerned, anything can be interesting.
As little as Mr. Bean says
Oh, does he speak at all? You do not need to explain things if you provide a clear enough context. This applies to grammar, vocabulary, and the rest. (No further explanation)😉
As visual as Mr. Bean
Mr. Bean is so good with body language. The way he uses his face and eyes could be a course at university. You need to learn to get yourself understood with as few words as possible and teach your students to communicate non-verbally regardless of their level. Your supervisors would not be able to pick on your TTT.
As humorous as Mr. Bean
Without humor, life would be a tedious imageless something. You need to sharpen your sense of humor and use it in class to entertain, keep interested, and teach as Mr. Bean does.
What do you think? Be a Bean and add your ideas to the list?
